The eyes of the community of physics are fixed collectively to Illinois, where this afternoon, researchers at Fermilab will shut down the Tevatron particle accelerator… for good. That right – second the world hadrons are laying to rest after a remarkable 25 years recently stopped due to budgetary constraints. This year, scientists in Fermilab and a group of prominent physicists pleaded with the Government to keep the Tevatron until 2014
